Used reachstackers for container and heavy load handling
A reachstacker is the machine an intermodal yard runs on. It lifts a container off the stack, off a truck or off a railcar and places it wherever it is needed — no fixed crane, no rails. One machine does the job of two, which is also why the yard stops when the reachstacker stops.
Best Lift buys, overhauls and resells used reachstackers from all the major manufacturers, and stays with the machine afterwards for spare parts, overhauls and service. Machines can be inspected at our yard in Romanore di Borgo Virgilio, near Mantua, northern Italy.

What to check before you buy one
- Capacity in the first row — and in the rows behind it — the headline figure is always the first row. What decides whether the machine suits your yard is what it lifts in the second and third row, where most of the work happens
- Hours, and how they were worked — ten thousand hours in a marine terminal are not ten thousand hours in an inland yard. Ask about the duty cycle, not just the hour meter
- Spreader — 20 to 40 ft telescopic, condition of twistlocks, cylinders and wiring. It is the hardest working part of the machine and the most expensive to put right
- Boom and lifting cylinders — leaks, play in the pins, condition of the wear pads
- Engine and transmission — the make, the availability of parts and the service history matter more than the model year
- Tyres — a real cost item on a reachstacker. Look at them before you buy, not after
- Paperwork — data plate, serial number, manuals and periodic inspections
If we cannot confirm a figure, we say so. Numbers we have not verified do not go on our listings.
Brands we work with
We handle reachstackers by Fantuzzi and Fantuzzi Reggiane, CVS Ferrari, Kalmar, Terex, Hyster, Konecranes, SMV and Linde. Much of the fleet still working in Europe is out of production, so the real question is not what the machine costs but whether parts can still be found afterwards. We keep components in stock and we know where to look.
More than the sale
- Workshop overhaul before delivery: engine, transmission, hydraulics and spreader
- Spare parts for reachstackers, forklifts and cranes, including out-of-production machines
- Technical service at our workshop, on your site and through partner workshops across Italy
- Transport and shipping in Italy and abroad
- We buy used equipment and accept trade-ins, including idle or damaged machines
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a reachstacker and an empty container handler?
A reachstacker handles laden containers and heavy loads, and its telescopic boom reaches rows behind the first one. An empty container handler is built for empties only: lighter structure, lower fuel and running costs. If you mostly move empties, a reachstacker is more machine than you need.
How much does a reachstacker lift?
The machines we deal in are around 45 tonnes in the first row. The exact figure, row by row, depends on model and configuration — we confirm it per machine, load chart in hand.
Does a used reachstacker make sense?
In this class the gap between new and used prices is very wide, and a properly overhauled machine works for years. The risk is not buying used: it is buying used without knowing how the machine was worked and without anyone behind you on parts.
Can you supply parts for out-of-production machines?
Yes — it is a large part of what we do: Fantuzzi and Fantuzzi Reggiane, Terex, CVS Ferrari, Kalmar. We stock components and also supply complete engines, transmissions and hydraulic pumps.
Do you ship outside Italy?
Yes. We arrange transport and shipping in Italy and abroad and handle the paperwork.
Is the machine overhauled before delivery?
Machines go through our workshop before they are delivered. What is done depends on the condition of each one, and we set it out in writing, machine by machine.
Can I rent instead of buying?
On some machines, yes. Rental is quoted case by case depending on the machine and the application — ask us.
