Transport and shipping of container handling machines
A container handling machine does not travel like ordinary equipment. A reachstacker weighs well over seventy tonnes empty, the boom and spreader put it outside the legal envelope, and moving it by road takes the right low-loader, the right permits, and someone who knows how to load it without damaging either the machine or the trailer under it.
Best Lift arranges transport for every machine it sells, rents or buys, working with partner hauliers who specialise in abnormal loads and who we have used for years. This is not an add-on service: it is the stage at which a good purchase can be spoiled, which is why we would rather handle it than leave it to the customer.
What happens before the truck moves
- Weights and dimensions checked in the configuration the machine will actually travel in
- The machine prepared — where needed we remove spreader, boom or counterweights to come within limits, and refit them on arrival
- Haulier and trailer chosen to suit the weight and the height of the load
- Documentation handled, including what a shipment abroad requires
- Loading and unloading agreed — who provides the lifting equipment, what room there is to manoeuvre, at what hours
Where we deliver
Within Italy transport is by road and is quoted on distance and dimensions. For destinations abroad — Best Lift has supplied customers in twenty-six countries — the solution is built around the individual shipment: a twelve-tonne forklift and a forty-six-tonne reachstacker are not the same problem.
Always have transport quoted up front. On machines this size it makes a real difference to the total cost: ask for it together with the price of the machine, not afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Is transport included in the price of the machine?
No, it is quoted separately. That way you can see what it actually costs and compare it against your own arrangement, if you have one.
Do you own your trucks?
No. We work with partner hauliers who specialise in abnormal loads. It is a trade of its own, and we would rather leave it to people who do it every day.
Who loads and unloads the machine?
Agreed beforehand. We load at our own yard; at the delivery end it depends on the space and the equipment available on site.
Do you transport machines you did not sell?
Yes, if the shipment is the kind of equipment we handle. Send us make, model and destination.
How long does it take?
It depends on the destination and on the permits an abnormal load requires. We give an indicative date along with the quotation.
Do you ship outside Europe?
We have customers in twenty-six countries. Every destination outside the European Union is looked at on its own.
Ask for a transport quotation
We need the make and model of the machine, where it is now and where it has to go. With those three things we can give you an order of magnitude quickly.
