A 46-tonne reachstacker ready to work

The CVS Ferrari F500 RS5 is a reachstacker for 20 ft and 40 ft ISO containers, built in 2018 and used for only 14,000 hours. That is a low figure for this class of machine: a reachstacker in continuous terminal service comfortably passes 30,000 hours, so this unit is roughly halfway through its expected life before a major overhaul.

It lifts 46 tonnes in the first row and stacks up to six 8’6″ containers or five 9’6″ containers. This is the standard configuration for intermodal terminals, inland ports, container depots and industrial yards handling laden containers across several rows.

Telescopic spreader and anti-overtipping system

The spreader is telescopic for 20′-40′ laden ISO containers and of heavy-duty type, built to withstand rough yard handling, with easy access to all parts for routine maintenance. Hydraulic side-shift +/- 800 mm, rotation from -105° to +195°, with electric and mechanical safeties.

The machine is fitted with an electronic anti-overtipping system linked to the weighing system. All information, including the weight of the container being handled, is shown on a display in the cabin, so the operator knows in real time whether the load is within the capacity chart for the row being worked.

Cabin and operator position

Closed, ergonomic, sound-proof and heated cabin with air conditioning, placed in a central rear position for excellent all-around visibility over the load and the yard. The cabin slides manually. Comprehensive instrumentation and all controls within easy reach of the driver. The lighting set complies with traffic regulations and includes an amber beacon and working lights.

Chassis and maintenance access

The chassis is manufactured in high-strength steel, ensuring high torsional rigidity and uniform distribution of stresses, with direct benefits for stability and safety. It is also designed for maximum accessibility to the engine, transmission, brakes and hydraulic and electric systems, which translates into fewer machine-down hours at every service.

Typical applications

  • intermodal terminals and inland ports handling laden containers across three rows;
  • container depots that need to stack up to six high;
  • medium-sized ports and port yards;
  • industrial and steel sites with regular container traffic.
