Used Fantuzzi FDC 450 Forklift – 45 t, 1990
The Fantuzzi FDC 450 is a front diesel forklift rated at 45,000 kg with the load centre at 1,225 mm. This is the size class you need when the load is not a pallet but a marble block, a steel coil, a die, a transformer or a heavy fabricated structure – weights that industrial trucks in the 5 to 10 tonne range cannot approach.
The mast is a full-visibility duplex unit with a heavy-duty structure designed to take the stresses of the most demanding handling work. Lift height at the forks is 5,000 mm, with 2,400 mm of free lift: the forks rise by more than two metres before the mast starts to extend upwards, which is what makes the machine usable inside a building, under a canopy or within a container.
The fork carriage offers full visibility and comes with side shift and fork positioner, so fork spacing is adjusted from the driving position without leaving the cab. On loads of varying size – stone blocks, crates, steel structures – that is the difference between a truck you can run all day and one that costs you time on every pick.
Power comes from an IVECO AIFO model 821 diesel engine, a widely used industrial unit valued for its low-end torque and straightforward servicing. The transmission is a CLARK model 34000 with power-shift and inching, allowing millimetre approach to the load through the pedal while the engine holds the revs the hydraulics need. On a machine that has to slide its forks under a block without touching it, that function is used on every cycle.
The hydraulic system is high-efficiency and has been overhauled, holding lift and tilt speeds steady even at full load. Steering is power-assisted with a single steering cylinder and a wide steering angle – on a machine this size, the difference between manoeuvring in a tight yard and needing three attempts. Service brakes are dry disc units on the front axle.
The front axle runs twin wheels, four 18.00-25 40 PR tyres, with two more of the same size on the steering rear axle. All six tyres are new, fitted during the overhaul. On a 45-tonne forklift a full set of tyres is not a minor line item, and it is worth knowing it is not an expense waiting for you.
The cab is enclosed, heated and sound-insulated, with a protective grille and a full instrument panel with lights and indicators. It is raised and set forward so the operator can see the fork tips – on a machine of this size, the condition for working safely near people and structures. Visibility is good in every direction.
All truck movements run through power-assisted levers, reducing effort and improving control. The seat is new, suspended and adjustable, and the road lighting and work lamps are new as well. Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components are easy to reach, so routine servicing does not turn into a long strip-down.
On a machine built in 1990 the right question is not how old it is, but what has been renewed and when. On this FDC 450 the work is recent and documented:
The truck is in excellent condition. It is a heavily built machine, made for a working life of hard duty and able to handle any kind of movement within its capacity class.
The fair concern about a machine of this age is simple: if it stops, can it be fixed? For heavy Fantuzzi forklifts the answer is yes, for concrete reasons.
The engineering is deliberately simple – naturally aspirated diesel, power-shift transmission, hydraulics built from standard components. There is no proprietary control electronics to become unobtainable once the manufacturer moves to a new product generation. An IVECO AIFO engine and a CLARK transmission are among the most widely used units in heavy handling, and parts for them are available.
Best Lift supplies Fantuzzi spare parts and components for machines in this family: seals, cylinders, pumps, transmission parts, mast components. A machine of this age bought from a supplier who also stocks the parts is a machine that works; bought elsewhere, it can become a long stoppage at the first failure.
How much does the Fantuzzi FDC 450 lift?
45,000 kg – 45 tonnes – with the load centre at 1,225 mm from the fork heel. Capacity decreases as the load centre moves out, according to the machine load chart, which we supply on request.
What is the lift height?
5,000 mm at the forks, with 2,400 mm of free lift: the forks rise 2,400 mm before the mast begins to extend.
Which engine and transmission does it have?
An IVECO AIFO model 821 diesel engine and a CLARK model 34000 transmission with power-shift and inching for millimetre approach to the load.
Has the machine been overhauled?
Yes, in 2023: electrical system rebuilt, hydraulic system overhauled, new forks and tyres, new seat, new lighting and a full repaint.
Are spare parts available for a Fantuzzi of this generation?
Yes. The engineering is simple and the main assemblies – IVECO AIFO engine, CLARK transmission – are very widely used. Best Lift supplies Fantuzzi spare parts and components for machines in this family.
How is it delivered?
By abnormal load transport, given its weight and dimensions. We arrange transport and quote it by destination, in Italy and abroad. On request we send one of our technicians to site for assembly and to train your staff on operation and maintenance.
Can it be inspected before purchase?
Yes. The machine can be viewed by appointment and tested under load.
For price, availability, load chart, additional photographs or a transport quotation to your site, write or call us: we answer with the full technical data and without evasions.
